Centrowitz Sr. Hired at Manhattan College By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Manhattan College announced Thursday the hiring of Matt Centrowitz Sr. as its new head track and field and cross country coach. This is a move that's been in the works, and pretty well known, for the past two months. Centrowitz will move back to his roots in New York City, where he first rose to fame in the early 1970s as a high school star. He competed for Manhattan College before transferring to the University of Oregon. Centrowitz is the father of the Olympic 1,500-meter gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz, who earlier this month became a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Washington. Centrowitz Sr. leaves American University, where he coached for 18 years.
